Closeout tracks your tips, sets aside your tax, and tells you what's actually yours to spend. Built for people who don't know what they made until they cash out.
No bank connection. No spreadsheet. 90 seconds to your first number.
"No Tax on Tips" passed in 2025 — but only if you track right. Federal tax on tips is deductible through 2028. FICA and state tax still apply. Closeout does both, live, every shift.
"Bartender at a steakhouse. I had no idea I could deduct up to $25K of my tips. My CPA found me $1,180 I didn't know I was owed."
Hours, tips, tip-out. 30 seconds. You can do it walking to your car.
Tax math runs live. So does your "safe to spend" number — based on a smoothed average so a slow Tuesday doesn't blow your week.
Your tax reserve grows shift by shift. April becomes boring instead of catastrophic.
For pooled houses, percentage-based tip-outs, and the math you shouldn't have to do at 2am.
Texas has no state income tax. California has a lot. Closeout knows which one is yours.
Four-week rolling average tells you what you'll actually have, not just what tonight looked like.
Quarterly target meter. Hit it shift by shift. Stop dreading the IRS letter.
Year-end CSV, TurboTax & H&R Block ready. Your tax filer will love you.
Toast, Square, Clover, 7shifts. Stop typing tips at the end of every shift.Coming Q3 2026
"First app that actually understands what a tip-out is. I'm not converting it to 'business expense.' It's just tip-out."
"Got blindsided for $4,200 last April. Started Closeout in September. Owed $180 this year. I'm a believer."
"The 'safe to spend' number is the only finance number I look at. It just works."
Free forever for the basics. Pro pays for itself the first time you avoid an IRS penalty.
The core tool. Track shifts, see your real take-home, never pay a dime.
Everything in Free, plus the automation that turns Closeout into your tax-season insurance policy.
Public launch price: $4.99/mo.
Waitlist members lock in $2.99/mo forever.
Big deal. The OBBBA, signed July 2025, lets eligible tipped workers deduct up to $25,000 in qualified tips from federal income tax through 2028. The average refund is ~$1,400. But: you have to track your tips correctly — voluntary tips count, mandatory service charges don't. You also still owe FICA (7.65%) and state taxes. Closeout tracks the right things so you can claim the maximum deduction and not miss out.
No. Never required. Manual entry works forever. Bank connection is optional for the auto-savings feature in Pro — and even then, we use Plaid (the same security infrastructure your bank uses).
Under "No Tax on Tips," cash tips that are reported now save you federal income tax — so there's a real financial upside to reporting accurately (the average claim is ~$1,400). Closeout doesn't report to anyone; we're a private tool. We just help you see the math both ways so you can make the call. What goes on your tax return is between you and your tax preparer.
No — Closeout is an estimator, not a tax preparer. We help you save the right amount and export clean data. The actual filing is for you and your CPA / TurboTax / H&R Block. Same model as Mint or Hurdlr.
At launch: manual entry only — works for any job. In development for Q3 2026: Toast, Square, Clover, and 7shifts integrations. Email us your POS and we'll prioritize.
Because tipped workers are paid hourly + tips, not in salary. $4.99 is one drink at staff price. We don't think you should pay $200/year to know what you make.
Web app at launch — works on every phone, no download. Native iOS app is in development based on early-user demand. Get in now to vote on what we build next.
"No Tax on Tips" only helps if you track right. Free to start. No bank connection. Your first number is 90 seconds away.
